The Gilgandra District has a rich military history and to commemorate the centenary of World War One the stories of the men and women involved are being researched and recorded. The stories show courage, humour, compassion and the extraordinary bond that existed on the battlefield and beyond. This project does not glorify war.

The WW1 men and women, who are eligible to go on the database, were born or lived or enlisted from Gilgandra. It can also include those whose next of kin lived here and those who came to live in Gilgandra after the war.
